Join List Serv Enter Discussion Forum Post to List Serv
In the communications center, you may use either the discussion forum or the list serv.
Discussion forum: Each week, the instructor will post a topic for discussion. Anyone visiting the forum may post a response, which is visible to all visitors. A series of such postings is called a "thread." You may post a response to an existing thread, or start a new thread as the discussion evolves in a new direction. You must visit the discussion forum (click the button) to see the topics and postings, but you do not have to join up in any formal way.
List serv: To take part in the list serv, you must join up—but this is easy. Just click in the square above "Join (course number) List Serv". Type SUBSCRIBE in all caps in the message that opens up, and then send it.
A list serv lets any member send an email message to all the other people belonging to the list serv. You do not have to visit the list serv to get a message; it just comes to you as email. If either the instructor or a student has a message for the folks in the class, it can be distributed using the list serv.
